Improving access and reducing barriers to care

Equal access to virtual care is central to our mission of providing high-quality care to everyone, regardless of who they are, where they live, or what languages they speak. Our virtual care services help remove barriers to care and improve equitable health care by:

Expanding access for older members and underserved communities
Eliminating barriers such as travel or the need to take time away from work or home
Providing care in many languages

Curbing costs of chronic conditions

Chronic conditions affect about half of all employees and account for 90% of U.S. health care costs.³ With more virtual care options, it’s easier for patients to stay engaged in their care. Also, in-person visits can sometimes be challenging for people with chronic conditions, and telehealth is a great option for them.

Our electronic health record system allows care teams to collaborate remotely, across different locations and specialties, to deliver the right care.

For example, health care costs are approximately $9,600 higher per person annually for employees with diabetes than for those without. With remote diabetes management tools, it’s easier for our members to stay on top of their care — leading to better health outcomes and long-term savings.⁴
